Mexico`s history has always been closely related to maritime activity because of its geographical location since most of the country is surrounded by the sea. Maritime transportation is relevant to Mexico`s economy, because most of its exports and imports is made through Merchant vessels.
The Merchant Marine Academies of Mazatlán, Tampico and Veracruz, are managed by the Trust for the Education and Training of the Personnel of the Mexican Merchant Marine. They are high-leveled educative institutions devoted to the training of professional seafarers, as well as the training of ratings and fishermen.
The Mexican Merchant Marine officer, who has a university degree, is highly qualified to perform in the area of his speciality, in any kind of vessels.
